Making organic baby food from home

Organic baby food

When my baby boy was born his nutrition was very important to me.  I breast fed him and was very careful of what I ate while doing so. Naturally when he was old enough to start eating solid foods I wanted to continue with his good nutrition. I decided I wanted my baby to have organic fruits and veggies. The easiest way to accomplish this was by making his foods myself.  Homemade Organic baby food is easy to make and very healthy for your child.  I shop at my local food markets and buy organic food blend it up and freeze it.  It's simple and I was able to find great recipes in a few books online. Now my baby enjoys delicious purees that have no salt, sugar, or preservatives. I hope my page can help other mothers start their baby out on the right track.

Organic Baby food recipes

I started feeding my baby solids around six months. He really took to it very well. I swear my little guy would eat anything. Some mom's aren't so lucky. So I'm going to share two recipes that he really liked. Hopefully your little one will chow it down and want seconds.

Butternut squash - "never liked it myself but it's really simple and baby's love it." You will need- 1 medium butternut squash(about 1 pound), peeled, cut in half, and seeded.1 tablespoon unsalted butter, and 2 tablespoons orange juice. "of course I use all organic but that of course is optional."

Brush each half with melted butter and spoon 1 tablespoon orange juice into each cavity. cover with foil and bake in preheated oven at 350 Deg for one and a half hours. Then blend to a puree. U can scoop into ice trays then freeze and move them into freezer safe ziplock bag. Squash is very healthy and rarely causes allergies! Also loaded with vitamin A. I u want to stock up just double or quadruple the recipe.

Sweet potato and broccoli- Another one of my baby's favorites!

U will need 1 medium sweet potato (8 ounces), peeled and chopped. 1 cup of broccoli florets, 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, and 2 tablespoons of your babies usual milk.

Place the potato in a saucepan, cover with water, and boil for 4 min. Add the broccoli and continue for another five min. Puree together with the butter and milk. Serve or freeze!

I hope these will be useful to someone. Once u start making your baby's food U will feel good knowing exactly what your little one is eating. Good Luck!
